There's a misconception about AI writing that I see all the time: people think the goal is to replace your voice with an AI voice. That the machine is supposed to write for you, turning you into a ghost while the AI takes over.
That's backwards.
The real power of AI writing isn't automation, it's amplification. It's taking what's already authentic about you, your experiences, your lessons, your perspective, and formatting it in a way that actually works on LinkedIn's algorithm.
I built Postwise's Ghostwriter feature because I watched creators solve this problem the hard way: they'd write a post sharing a real experience, post it, and get decent engagement. But then they'd watch someone else take a similar experience and get 10x the traction, just because of how it was formatted, where the hook is, where the story turns, how the CTA lands.
The Ghostwriter isn't here to replace your voice. It's here to make your voice work harder.
What Is Ghostwriter?
Ghostwriter is an AI feature that learns your unique voice and style, then generates LinkedIn posts that align with that voice and with what LinkedIn's algorithm actually rewards.
Here's how it works at a high level:
You feed Ghostwriter one of three things:
- A description of yourself — "I'm a founder helping SaaS teams build better products. I believe that small tweaks = big results."
- Your actual social media profile — Ghostwriter analyzes your past posts to learn your exact style and tone.
- A story or lesson — You paste in something real: a mistake you made, a win you had, a lesson you learned. Ghostwriter then generates 3 different versions of that story, each optimized for the algorithm.
Ghostwriter then generates posts that sound like you — your vocabulary, your humor, your perspective — but are structured in a way that works: strong hooks, punchy formatting, strategic CTAs.
The key insight: Ghostwriter doesn't write generic AI posts. It learns your voice first, then applies algorithm-winning structure to that voice.
Why This Matters (And Why Most AI Writing Fails)
Most AI tools work backwards. They generate a post first, then you hope it sounds like you. You end up tweaking it, changing words, removing the AI jargon. By the time you're done, you could have just written it yourself.
Postwise's approach is different: we start with you. We learn your voice. Then we apply structure.
This matters because of a fundamental truth about LinkedIn in 2026: people still want authenticity. They want to hear from real humans with real experiences. What they don't want is generic AI filler — and LinkedIn's algorithm doesn't reward it either.
The problem most creators face is that they have the authentic content — the stories, the lessons, the insights — but they don't know how to format it for the algorithm. They write it naturally (how a human would talk), post it, and it doesn't get traction. Meanwhile, someone else posts a similar story with better structure (hook → story → insight → CTA) and it explodes.
Ghostwriter solves that gap. You bring the authenticity. The AI brings the structure.
Prerequisites: What You Need
To get the most out of Ghostwriter, you'll need:
- A Postwise account — You need to be on an any plan to access Ghostwriter. We offer a 7-day free trial.
- Real content to work with — This is the critical part. The better the raw material you give Ghostwriter, the better the output. Real stories, lessons, and insights work best. Generic topics ("how to be productive") won't generate interesting posts (people are sick of these in 2026!).
- Time to review — Ghostwriter generates posts, but you're the final editor. You'll review, choose the best versions, and tweak as needed. This is normal and expected.
Step 1: Set Up Your Profile
The first thing Ghostwriter does is learn who you are.
Navigate to the AI Writer tab in the left-hand menu of your Postwise dashboard.
You'll be given an option to describe who you are.
Option A: Enter a Description
In the first field, describe yourself in this format:
WHO I AM. WHAT I DO. WHO I HELP.
Example:
"I'm a B2B SaaS founder who helps teams build products people actually love. I believe that great products come from deep customer conversations, not guesswork."
Keep it real. This isn't marketing speak — this is how you'd describe yourself to someone at a coffee shop. Ghostwriter uses this to understand your perspective, what you care about, and how you think.

Option B: Analyze Your Profile | Voices Feature
If you want Ghostwriter to learn directly from your past posts or posts of any other creator, click the "Voices" tab. With this feature you can will pull your LinkedIn history and analyze:
- How the posts are structured
- Typical word choice and tone
- Hooks
- Humor type, data, or storytelling
- Where the account places CTAs
This is more accurate than writing a description — it's learning from real examples.
Pro tip: You can use both. Start with a description to guide Ghostwriter, then let it analyze your or your favourite creator’s profile to refine. You can always adjust your description later based on what Ghostwriter generates.

Step 2: Feed Ghostwriter Real Content
This is where the magic happens.
You have three ways to feed Ghostwriter content:
Option 1: Type a Topic (2–5 words)
Give Ghostwriter a direction:
- "How I scaled to 7 figures"
- "The mistake that changed my career"
- "Why LinkedIn creators fail"
Ghostwriter will generate posts based on these prompts. The output is decent, but generic topics produce generic posts.
Option 2: Paste a Full Story or Lesson (recommended)
This is where Ghostwriter shines.
Open a text editor and write out a real experience:
"Last year I hired someone for my team who looked perfect on paper. Great resume, strong background, seemed like the right fit. We got them onboarded, and by week two, I realized we'd made a huge mistake. They didn't fit the culture. They wanted to work differently than our team. Within a month, they left. What I learned: culture fit is non-negotiable. I'd been so focused on skills that I ignored the human element. Now I interview differently, less about what they've done, more about how they think and what they value. It's saved us from so many wrong hires since."
Paste this into Ghostwriter's "Story/Lesson" field. Hit generate.
Ghostwriter will create 5–6 different versions of this story, each with:
- A different hook (some lead with the mistake, others lead with the lesson)
- Different formatting (some are prose, some have lists)
- Different CTAs (some invite conversation, others share a lesson)
- All the same voice — your voice

You can then pick the version that resonates most and tweak it.
Option 3: Record Your Story (Voice Note)
Don't feel like typing? Use the microphone feature. Record yourself telling the story, the same way you'd tell it to a friend. Ghostwriter will transcribe it and then generate posts from it.
This often produces the most authentic posts because the AI is working from your natural speech patterns, not written text.

Step 3: Review, Edit, and Schedule
After Ghostwriter generates posts, you get a few options to choose from.
Here's what I do:
- Read all versions — Ghostwriter gives you different angles on the same story. One might emphasize the mistake, another the lesson, another the insight.
- Pick your favorite — Usually one will just feel right. That's the one that captures your voice best.
- Make micro-edits — Change a word if it doesn't sound like you. Tighten a sentence. Add a personal detail. Don't rewrite it — just polish it.
- Schedule it — Use Postwise's content calendar to schedule the post for optimal timing.

The whole process from story → final scheduled post is usually 10–15 minutes.
Pro Tips for Getting the Best Results
1. Feed Ghostwriter Real Stories, Not Generic Topics
"How I built my business" will generate a decent post.
"The time I almost gave up on my business — and the one thing that changed my mind" will generate a post that actually resonates.
Real > generic. Always.
2. Use Specific Details
Instead of:
"I learned that persistence is important"
Try:
"I had 47 'no's before I got my first 'yes.' The 48th person who said yes became my biggest client. Here's what changed."
Specific details stick in people's minds. Ghostwriter will amplify those details in the generated posts.
3. Update Your Description Regularly
As you evolve, update how you describe yourself. If you've shifted focus or learned something new about what you stand for, feed that into Ghostwriter.
The more accurate your description, the better the posts.
4. Play with Instructions
The "Provide Instructions" button is underrated. Use it to experiment:
- "Make this funny and self-deprecating"
- "Write this for LinkedIn's search algorithm — include 3 specific keywords"
- "Make this educational — include a step-by-step framework"
Try different instructions on the same story and see what works best.
5. Mix Ghostwriter with Manual Writing
Ghostwriter should free up time, not replace all your writing. I use it for 60% of my posts and write the remaining 40% manually. The mix feels natural and keeps my voice sharp.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Mistake 1: Feeding Ghostwriter Generic Topics
"How to be productive" → generic post.
"The productivity system that helped me reclaim 10 hours a week" → compelling post.
Real beats generic every time.
Mistake 2: Not Using the Voice/Profile Analysis
If you have a LinkedIn profile with past posts, let Ghostwriter analyze it. It will generate posts that feel more naturally like you than if you just wrote a description.
Mistake 3: Forgetting That Authenticity Scales
The posts Ghostwriter generates are algorithm-optimized, but they're still your stories. Don't expect Ghostwriter to make a mediocre story go viral.
The Real Value Proposition
Here's what you're actually getting with Ghostwriter:
Before Ghostwriter:
You have a great story. You write it naturally. It gets okay engagement because your natural writing style isn't optimized for the algorithm.
After Ghostwriter:
You have a great story. Ghostwriter generates 5 versions of it, each optimized for the algorithm. You pick the best one, make one or two tweaks, and post. You get 3x the engagement because the algorithm can find it and the formatting keeps people reading.
You're not trading authenticity for optimization — you're getting both.
And because Ghostwriter is learning your voice, the posts still feel like you. They're not generic AI. They're your ideas, beautifully formatted and algorithm-friendly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the same story multiple times with different instructions?
Absolutely. Take one story and generate posts with different tones or angles. Some might be educational, others might be motivational, others conversational. Test what resonates.
What if the generated posts don't sound like me?
Adjust your description or let Ghostwriter analyze your profile more deeply. You can also refine the Voices feature to ensure it's learning the right style. The more accurate your input, the better the output.
Can I use Ghostwriter for Twitter/X and Threads too?
Yes. Ghostwriter works across all platforms — LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and Threads. The feature generates content optimized for each platform's algorithm.
How is this different from just using ChatGPT?
ChatGPT doesn't learn your voice. It generates generic posts. Ghostwriter is specifically trained to analyze your style and generate posts that maintain authenticity while being algorithm-optimized. Plus, you get access to the Voices feature and multi-platform optimization built in.
What's Next?
Once you've mastered Ghostwriter, combine it with Postwise's other features:
- Auto Plug — automatically post a follow-up comment with your CTA when a post reaches engagement thresholds
- Content Calendar — schedule your Ghostwriter-generated posts for optimal posting times
- Randomized Queue — space out your posts throughout the day or week for consistent visibility
The goal: turn your authentic stories into a consistent stream of algorithm-friendly content that builds your presence on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Threads.
Because in 2026, the creators who win aren't the ones with the most AI. They're the ones who use AI to amplify their authenticity, not replace it.
